Chugach Range Riders
Meeting Minutes June 5, 2007
The meeting was called to order by President Les Anderson. Minutes
were skipped, as there were only three members in attendance in
February and therefore no meeting was held. Treasurer Mary Ann Hartzog
reported a total of $9,832.41 in both bank accounts.
OLD BUSINESS:
Election of officers - officers were finally established, and the board remains the same, with Les Anderson serving as President, Diane Sullivan as Vice-President, Mary Ann Hartzog as Treasurer, and Patrice Weinmeister as Secretary, with Karol Kolehmainen, Joe Wilson, and Loretta Andress serving as at-large board members. Elections were quite delayed this year with the cancellation of the Scavenger Hunt (our usual venue for membership renewals) so the election was not completed by our usual December deadline, but we finally got it done!
Equifest - Diane reported that there has been one meeting of the committee chairs, although there are still a couple of slots needing to be filled. Committees and their respective chairpersons are as follows:
Publicity - Patrice Weinmeister
Vendors - Diane Sullivan
Food - Ann Anderson
Parade of Breeds/Breed Alley/Sale Barn - Patrice Weinmeister
Pony Rides - Mary Bolin
Gate Mary Ann Hartzog
Demonstrations - Diane Sullivan
Set-up/Clean-up - ???????
Ticket Sales - ???????
Grounds man - Les Anderson

Diane suggested that we place a half-page color ad in the April issue of the Alaska Horse Journal and a full-page color ad in the May issue, provided we could get the 50% discount that we did last year. Patrice suggested that perhaps we could swap that, putting the full-page ad in the April issue and the half- page ad in the May issue. Diane said she would check into the discount and then proceed accordingly. A packet was handed out which included the vendor information and registration as well as all the information and registration for the Parade of Breeds, Breed Alley, and the Sale Barn. Diane announced that she has applied for a day use permit for the Ruth Arcand recreation area, so that should eliminate conflict with another large group there. The Alaska Mounted Shooters have promised to demonstrate again, and Les agreed to see to getting a noise permit.
NEW BUSINESS:
Calendar of Events: Diane produced a list of suggested events and dates. Of concern is that even though we were able to pinpoint dates for events, the one thing sadly lacking is the volunteer manpower to head up many of them and make them happen. A suggestion was made that we go ahead and list the events and dates in the Alaska Horse Journal, with the information we have, and list TBA beside any that were still open, in the hopes that folks will step up to the plate and fill the need. Diane pointed out that with only 5 or 6 people showing up at meetings all winter, it has been very difficult to conduct business. Les reiterated the need for a serious membership drive!
Insurance - Diane has sent the paperwork to the Ark Agency for an insurance quote. As soon as she receives the quote she will get the paperwork to the appropriate members for signatures and get it finalized.
Biennial report - Diane asked if anyone attending knew anything about a biennial report that is filed every other year as part of our non-profit status and has been taken care of in the past by the treasurer. No one seemed to know anything about it, so Diane agreed to check with Judi's daughter, Reagan, to see if she is still receiving CRR correspondence.
Other business: Diane made a motion which was seconded by Lila, to make Loretta a lifetime member of CRR. Everyone present heartily agreed that she has earned it! Patrice offered a suggestion that since the position of Secretary is more than she had bargained for, maybe she and Loretta could handle the position together. Diane agreed to contact Loretta and approach her with the idea.
Kitty: Diane won the kitty.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m..
